Take a short break from the pennant chase, eh?

The 2023 MLB Draft was a fun one for the Seattle Mariners and their fans, with three picks in the Top 30, thanks to Julio Rodriguez (PPI) and the competitive balance lottery.

The club landed SS Colt Emerson at No. 22, CF Jonny Farmelo at No. 29, and at No. 30 tabbed CF Tai Peete.

In this edition of ‘Hindsight Still Isn’t 20/20’, here’s one alternate way the draft could go if it were held here in September 2025, based on development, performance, and health from the class of 2023.

Arguments can be made nearly top to bottom (The No. 1 pick wouldn’t change in any reasonable scenario) — this player over that one, et al — but I re-drafted how I would do it, not how I think each team might. And one could still talk me into other scenarios.
