2024 Mariners Top 50 Prospect Rankings
The Seattle Mariners’ farm system has begun to make its move.
It wasn’t but three short years ago when the Mariners boasted one of the elite farm systems in Major Lague Baseball. Led by Julio Rodriguez, Jarred Kelenic, Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, and Cal Raleigh, the system was loaded with future recipients of seasonal awards, MVP and Cy Young votes, and All-Star selections.
The returns on that wave of talent have been tremendous as it serves as the foundation of a roster that broke the drought and remains a threat in the American League.
For two seasons the organization competed at the big-league level but was rebuilding down below. In 2023, signs the system was closing in again were rampant.
First-round picks Harry Ford, Cole Young, Colt Emerson, Tai Peete, and Jonny Farmelo all showed signs of advanced abilities; the former duo sneaking up on Double-A and the brink of the big leagues, the latter trio looking the part of fast movers in their own right.
We’ll see what happens in 2024, but another wave of talent isn’t far behind.
The current system and Top 50 are loaded with raw talent, but it’s a lot less crude and unrefined than it was a year ago, thanks to field performance and good old-fashioned nature.
The Mariners lack pitching depth in the minors, but there are plenty of relief arms for the next few years. Their strength is quality bats that project to fill holes all over the field, including the middle-infield spots, catcher, and the outfield. There may even be a future all-star third baseman in the bunch, for those wondering.
Here is my Top 50 for 2024.
