Checking Victor Robles
Let's take a look at what's different, and discuss what Robles' future could look like in Seattle.
The Seattle Mariners signed Victor Robles to a big-league contract June 4, and the reason that didn’t go entirely under the radar is that Robles was once a top prospect in the Washington Nationals organization and posted a 3.7 fWAR season in 2019 at age 22.
He’s raking right now — .367/.425/.557 with Seattle — and while it’s a small sample — we’ll get back to this in a bit — his impact has been felt by a club that sorely needed offense, even before the injuries to J.P. Crawford and Julio Rodriguez.
One of the two questions I get as much as any other in a situation like this is “What’s different?” It’s a great question, and only the club and Robles himself can provide the entire answer, but we can deduce things from Robles’ mechanics, so let’s take a look.
