Emerson Hancock will get the ball Monday night at T-Mobile Park versus the Cleveland Guardians, a club with some dangerous hitters in a decent-but-otherwise average-ish lineup. But he’s going to need to bring more to the mound in this one, and in any starts he gets in the majors in 2024, to sustain any level of acceptable performance, let alone to increasing degrees.
Here’s what we are and aren’t seeing from Hancock that I think he’ll need to find if he’s to hold down a rotation spot until Bryan Woo returns, without handing the Seattle Mariners a signifiasnt disadvantage before the game even starts.
